Take me to the Caribbean...
...that's the name of the nail polish I chose for my vacation. Ironically, that's exactly where we're headed. As tradition has come to have it, we're going on our "usual" January cruise except this time with some unusual people. I probably won't be posting for the next week and as it's pretty late now and I have a plane to catch in 6.5 hours, so I'd better catch some Zzz's. Comments and thoughts as always welcome. =)

10 (Funny) Commandments of Marriage
Commandment 1.
Marriages are made in heaven. But so again, are thunder and lightning.
Commandment 2.
If you want your wife to listen and pay strict attention to every word you say, talk in your sleep.
Commandment 3.
Marriage is grand - and divorce is at least 100 grand!
Commandment 4.
Married life is very frustrating. In the first year of marriage, the man speaks and the woman listens. In the second year, the woman speaks and the man listens. In the third year, they both speak and the neighbors listen.
Commandment 5.
When a man opens the door of his car for his wife, you can be sure of one thing: Either the car is new or the wife is.

Marriage is when a man and woman become as one; The trouble starts when they try to decide which one

A long married couple came upon a wishing well. The wife leaned over, made a wish and threw in a penny. The husband decided to make a wish too. But he leaned over too much, fell into the well, and drowned. The wife was stunned for a moment but then smiled, "It really works!"

A woman worries about the future until she gets a husband.

A successful man is one who makes more money than his wife can spend.

HAPPINESS

Lost
Helping a friend out with something, we got on the topic of loss - not necessarily losing, but being lost in one's feelings and thoughts...

We are all lost, trying to find something, someone – ourselves. We lose ourselves in work, in our hobbies, in our friends, in relationships. We embark on a never-ending quest to find truth, love and understanding. This search is what makes our life worthwhile, our friendships stronger and our love great.
When we are defenseless to the world and more importantly to our thoughts and feelings, we expose our inner self, at our most vulnerable. Our deepest secrets are suddenly in the open – there's no privacy, there's no walls. Feel free to lose your inhibitions and to find yourself.

Maybe It's Me...
Since I was a little girl I felt that there was nobody in the world that understood me, not 100% anyway. I always felt different somehow. As I grew up and developed relationships with people other than my family, that feeling went away, but not completely. Lately, I feel like I've been fighting with people that I care about the most and while some arguments are petty and some serious, doesn't it take two to tango?
Arguments, disagreements, quarrels, disputes, differences of opinion and squabbles are inevitable in any type of relationship. It's how we fight that differentiates one spat from the next and one relationship from another. We get angry for different reasons and it is only with people that we truly care about that we argue. An argument is an essential part of any relationship, whether romantic, parent/child, sibling or friend, but is the best defense to an argument a good offense?

Hmmm...
I feel like I haven't posted in a while and at the same time I am not sure what to say. Well, to start, with the holidays behind us and tax season fast upon us, I'd like to inform you that I will be doing tax returns this year and please do not wait unitl April 15 to come and see me (Dasha)!
What else?
After almost six years at FMC Construction, I am leaving. I am starting at KPMG on February 5, 2007. I will be working in Financial Services Tax Group. It's both scary and exciting. My hours will be killer and my commute, let's not even talk about my commute. It all happened very fast and while I'm looking forward to it, it's a big change and hopefully all will go smoothly. As for shortening my commute, we'll be moving in the near future. The question right now is where?
Brooklyn? Staten Island? It's all up for grabs at this point...we'll see what happens.
