Lucky Sevens

While I didn't make it to AC today (unfortunately, I have a presentation to do), hopefully today is a lucky today for many people. It's probably the most popular wedding day ever, so congratulations to those who are getting married today. And to my dear friend, Bor'ka, Happy 25th Birthday (tomorrow)! All the very best!

and the significance behind the seven:

Seven is often associated with luck, the way thirteen is associated with misfortune. Eastern religions have seven virtues and seven deadly sins. The Book of Revelation has its Seven Seals. There are seven wonders of the world and lucky seven is an instant win on the first roll at the casino game, craps. We have 7 skies, 7 heavens, 7 seas, 7 colors of the rainbow, 7 days in the week, 7 dwarves and becoming 7 years old is considered to be a turning point in child development. Also, (apparently) there's the so called 7-year-itch in marriage. Sevens are also my favorite brand of jeans :-)

Kabbalah teaches that 7 represents wholeness and completion. After 7 days, the world was complete. There are 6 directions in our world: north, south, east, west, up and down. Add to that the place where you are, and you have a total of 7 points of reference. The fact that the Torah begins with a verse containing 7 words and 28 letters (divisible by 7) is hardly remarkable. There are many other references to seven in the Jewish Religion.
